Sporting Smiles was founded and is directed by John Haughey, a dentist who specialises in Sports Dentistry.
John Haughey has developed an international reputation as a leading sports dentist. As a field of play dentist at the London 2012 Olympics, John worked as part of the athlete medical team at the Excel Arena. The athlete medical team was responsible for providing complete medical and dental support to boxing, taekwando, judo, wrestling, fencing, weightlighting and table tennis athlete during competition.
John Haughey in his role as the GPA Sports Dentistry Advisor developed the GPA Oral Health Awareness programme which was launched in 2013. The programme is the largest oral health programme for athletes worldwide.
Sporting Smiles has established a reputation for its high quality service and products. Sporting Smiles has provided all elite GAA players in the 32 counties in Ireland and London county with protective mouthguards. Sporting Smiles performance department has helped numerous GAA players and top Irish Professional Athletes in Rugby, Hockey and Boxing with improving their performance and preventing injury through neuromuscular jaw alignment. With all athletes overwhelmed at the ability of the mouthguard in helping improve performance. Sporting Smiles are the only providers of this treatment in Ireland, and one of a small number internationally.
